Chase Freedom Credit Card Review

Introduction:

When it comes to credit cards, you have numerous options. People wonder what card is best for their spending habits and which offer the best rewards. Well, to answer these questions, I’ll be writing credit card reviews. I’ll outline my favorites and which ones to stay away from. To kick things off, I wanted to write up a brief review on the credit card that I use. It’s the Chase Freedom card. I’m a low spender, so having multiple credit cards just doesn’t make sense. The Chase Freedom card gives me the cash back I need and keeps things simple by having just one card. Here are the pro’s and cons for the card:

PROS:

-Right now, Chase is offering a $100 cash back bonus for opening the card and spending $500 in the first three months

-No annual fee. (This one is huge for me)

-5% cash back on rotating categories throughout the year such as groceries, gas, movies etc.

-0% APR for first 6 months

-0% APR for first 12 months on balance transfers

-Up to 10% cash back on purchases through select Chase partner affiliates

-Your cash back rewards never expire

-Unlimited 1% cash back on all other purchases with no tiers

-Extra 1% on eligible airfare through Chase’s online booking site

-You can redeem your cash back rewards for cash in a form of a check, air travel, and gift cards

CONS:

-Good credit score needed for Chase Freedom card approval

-If you’re transferring a balance over, there is a fee of 5%

-High penalty APR of 30% if you miss payments

-High foreign transaction fee of 3%

Word of Caution:

You should only use credit cards if you are responsible with them. I pay my card off in full every month and have never paid Chase a cent of interest. I pretend it’s a debit card. By doing it this way, I have made a significant amount of money off of Chase!

Final Thoughts:

Chase Freedom is a wonderful card if you are a low to medium spender, and need a card for typical, everyday purchases. The 0% APR and $100 bonus cash are big selling points for this card. Personally, I have owned this card for three years and have been more than pleased with it. Also, I have nothing but good things to say about Chase’s customer service. They’re one of the few banks where you talk to a real person on the other end.
